FSGA Junior Team Championships
As an approved FJT STEP program the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour will again send a team to the FSGA Florida Junior Team Championships in 2023. Over the last few years, the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour has been able to win seven official State Titles! See below for the details.
Age groups (Birthdays as of August 1) are:
Boys 16-18
Boys 13-15
Girls 16-18
Girls 13-15
Positions for the team will be based on results during the second half of the 2021 calendar year (July through November) and the first half of the 2022 season (January through May), with an emphasis on the results of two-day events.
The entry fees will be paid by the Tour and each player will receive uniform attire for the two tournament days.
The ECJGT invests a portion of the Annual Registration fees paid to the Tour to allow our teams to play this event and give the best players an opportunity to shine against the best the state of Florida has to offer! The best two of three scores each day will be counted as the team score.

Emerald Coast Teams made a big splash this past weekend at the FL Junior Team Championships, taking home 2 of the four titles up for grabs. Enduring tough hot and windy conditions the teams battled through the last day, even though at times it seemed that their dreams were drifting away. Jason, Christian and Davis have now represented at every trip that we have a taken down south and it is fitting that they bring home a State Championship together! Their work ethic and commitment to the game – they played every event with us this year! – gave them the resilience to hang tough when things looked like they may be slipping away. Jason finished as low individual with the only under par two day-total in any division – another indication of how tough the course was playing this year. We wish Davis well as he starts his collegiate career at the University of Montevallo today!!Brock and Tyler played solidly all weekend, but it was 13 year old Kevin Choe, in his first trip to the event, who truly carried the team and also earned low individual honors at 1-over par. When all seemed lost, the others stumbled and our boys had to get their clubs back out of the car and prepare for a playoff! After Tyler calmly sank his 15 footer for bogey to match his opponent, Kevin barely missed his 12 footer for birdie to give us the edge. In the end Brock had two putts from16 feet to seal the win, but made short work of it by draining his birdie putt!!
2012 FSGA Junior Team Chps The team of Brock Ochsenreiter, Stephen Shephard and Tyler Cohen are State Champions! In the Boys 13-15 age division on the Lakes Course, the Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour (pictured left) won the title with a tournament total of 293. Leading the way for their wire-to-wire victory was Brock Ochsenreiter, who fired rounds of 71-74 as Steven Shephard posted a 75-73 and Tyler Cohen recorded a 79-79. Josh August, of the Palm Beach County Junior Golf Association, took home low individual honors with a tournament total of two-under par 142.

Brandon Jowers, Langley Vannoy, Clay Vannoy and Madison Pacheco power ECJGT teams at Florida Junior Team Championships
The first trip for an Emerald Coast team to the Florida Junior Team Championships proved to be exciting and successful. In addition to playing to some great competition and proving themselves worthy of their nominations, the team also enjoyed some time off together in the pools and lazy river at Orange Lake Resort. See pictures later for details!
Playing the Arnold Palmer designed Legends Course, Shalimar’s Brandon Jowers showed he is not just a force in the FL Panhandle, but also on a state level by winning the unofficial individual honors and leading the Boys 16-18 team to a tie for 2nd place! His rounds of 67-68-133 led the team to a 4 under finish as a team. Pensacola’s Trey Aguirre shot 76-74 and Jay’s Jesse Floyd shot 75-80 to each post a supporting scores. They are all itching to come back next for the win, as they were only two strokes behind the winning team!
The Girls 13-15 placed fourth, just on shot from third! Pensacola’s Madison Pacheco lead the team with rounds of 81-77 and tied for 5th individually. She was supported by Niceville’s Antonia Poate who followed a first round 82 with a career low 79 on day 2, which also gave her a top 10 individual finish. Niceville’s Rachel Butterfield joined them with rounds of 93 and 125. Both Madi and Toni are also eligible to return in this division next year.
The Boys 13-15 division saw Pensacola’s Clay Vannoy take third place individually at 1 over par after very solid ball-striking rounds of 72-71-143 on the Orange Lake Reserve Course. This propelled his team to a seventh place finish in a very strong field. He was joined by Davis Bowyer with rounds of 84-79 and Jason Rogers with 88-80.
Pensacola’s Langley Vannoy two solid rounds of 74-76-150 placed her 8th individually and her team to a 7th place finish. She was joined on the team by Niceville’s Jaime Jordan with 83-84 and with Ivey Kelly 89-86.
A big thank you to all the players and parents for their time and commitment. Michele and I are already looking forward to next year! Posted 8/9/2010
